[ Maybe he'll learn one day, if it's something he wants to learn at all. That's how they wound up sharing a room together on their first night here to begin with. ]
Thought you heroes were supposed to be good at sharing. Greed isn't becoming of the number two, Hawks.
[Hawks... isn’t quite sure what inspired the laughter—them not being All Might isn’t that funny. He makes a mental note to think on that at some point. Maybe try and make Dabi laugh again too, because he wouldn’t mind hearing that again.]
I’ll take that challenge. I’ll make sure to find you something you can appreciate.
[Something better than a singed pillow and a half way decent conversation, anyway.]
My favorite color is blue. [ Just digging this hole deeper for both of them. Who cares if this is all just bs at this point, cause he doesn't have a favorite color. Just one he hates. But that's a thought he easily pushes aside as he lazily stretches into the wall. In other company, he would sleep right now. In present, well getting completely comfortable isn't the worst. ]
[Getting comfortable is as decent a plan as any. Seeing the villain relax so blatantly has Hawks shift until he can lean against to wall while on the bed as well. This is probably as peaceful a night as they can get, all things considered. The rest of it will probably be just as dull.]
Duly noted. Gotta say it's a better choice than most.
[As partial as Hawks is to the red of his wings, blue is the color of the sky-- of freedom. It's hard to not have that rank above the others.]
Yeah? Maybe you should've gone with peacock instead of Hawks. [ Dabi's not sure if the pro hero thinks his opinion here really matters, if he's that focused on vanity and appearances (hence the lazy jab), or if he's just trying to suck up to him. Either way he's not particularly interested and it's a small wonder why he's continued this conversation for so long without defaulting to his Twice treatment. Must be cause of everything that happened today. ]
Get back to preening yourself birdie, I won't look.
[Hawks scoffs but pulls his wings closer over his shoulders to attempt preening the back. More difficult, but just as necessary. His answers to Dabi meanwhile are barely louder than a mutter.]
You're underestimating how vicious peacocks are. And regardless not sure how well that would fit with my aesthetic anyway.
[ That doesn't quite earn a laugh, but it's close. He'll keep his eyes dutifully glanced towards the window though, cause he said he would. And while a response is easy and tempting (maybe too obvious with ruffling feathers), he stays silent.
They'd have a lot of time to get to know each other here (for better or worse), and Dabi had a lot to think about. ]

The Nomu wasn't exactly for me either.

Hawks laughs and grins at Dabi, his hands stilling briefly in the feathers while he laughed, before continuing once he was through.]
Heroes are human first, you know. We’re not all All Might.
[Not everyone can be a symbol and not a man, afterall. ]

Oh, I know. [ And then he laughs too, in spite of himself, in spite of everything. The smile on his lips lingers after. ]
Maybe you have a shot at fitting in with us after all. But tell you what. You get me a real gift, I'll get you one 'kay?
